Field notes
ASX open noise versus overnight structure

Many participants trade ASX names while studying continuation ideas drawn from overnight futures or FX. The open then becomes a confusion point: did the pullback fail, or did the auction simply rotate?
Separate timeframes on the printout
We ask students to mark the higher-timeframe pause in one colour and the first thirty-minute auction in another. A stop that sits inside ordinary open noise is rewritten before anyone discusses entries.
Gap rules in plain language
A gap through invalidation is respected as a failed idea for that plan. A gap that opens inside the pause and then recovers the prior higher low stays under review — we wait for the trigger rather than predicting the open.
Local context
Teaching from Werribee does not change the geometry of a flag, but it does change which session’s volume we treat as decisive for Australian shares. That distinction appears in afternoon drills during every Trend Continuation Workshop.
